*Netflix users, get ready for price increase, as the streaming giant is raising monthly plans for all of its U.S. subscribers – again.

According to Deadline, it’s most popular plan will go from $11 to $13 per month. The increases will take effect immediately for new subscribers and will be phased in over three months for existing subscribers.

The company says the price increase will help pay for debt and original shows.

Here’s how the new plans breakdown:

The Netflix Basic plan will now cost $9, up from $8. The most popular option, HD Standard, will now cost $13, up from $11, while the 4K Premium plan will cost $16, up from $14. Customers in about 40 Latin America countries where will also be affected, per Deadline.

“We change pricing from time to time as we continue investing in great entertainment and improving the overall Netflix experience,” the company said in a statement to the Associated Press.

According to its last quarterly report, Netflix had 137 million subscribers worldwide, including 58 million in the U.S.

One Twitter user reacted to the price hike by writing: “Everyone bitching over $2 luke…why? Do you expect to keep paying nothing for awesome original add-free content? Thats not really how the world works…. might wanna climb off that entitled high horse…”

While another commenter noted: “I’ll continue paying $15/mo for the amazing content HBO puts out, but no, I am not paying $13/mo for 13 Reasons Why, House of Cards, or whatever other crap Netflix is putting out. And they will probably hike the price again in a few more years.”

This marks the fourth time the company has raised its U.S. prices. The last increase came in late 2017.

There are some concerns that higher prices could trigger a wave of cancellations.

*Matt Barnes is probably on Amazon right now looking for something special for his lawyer for Christmas … all because he’s got some extra cash to do so now that his child support payments to Gloria Govan have been lowered, substantially.

Barnes went to court to have his payments reduced and according to legal docs obtained by The Blast, the former NBA star was granted his request of reduced payments to the “Basketball Wives” star.

Would you believe Barnes was shelling over $20k to Govan every month to cover expenses for their two son. However, now that Barnes no longer has all that NBA money coming in, he asked that his payments be lowered to a more reasonable amount.

The number he had in mind was $7,500, which works out to $3,750 per child, and the judge agreed.

At first glance that seems to be bad news for Govan, and it is, but it’s not completely bad for her. That’s because the reduction is only temporary while the two continue hashing out their many issues.

Wait a minute! Thjere’s more good news for Matt Barnes. Dude is also celebrating the birth of his newest son, Ashton Joseph Barnes, with model Anansa Sims (see baby’s Instagram pic below).

In related news, Gloria Govan’s future husband, Derek Fisher,  was named Friday as the new head-coach of the LA Sparks, the team he watched play at Staples Center while helping the Lakers win five NBA championships as their point guard. It’s Fisher’s second stint as a head coach in the pro ranks. He was fired from the New York Knicks in 2016.

And just in case you’re thinking this is a step down or not a good move for Fisher, he counters with an au contraire, mi amigo.

“This opportunity is not a step down, sideways, backwards, somehow different than the men’s game,” Fisher told a room full of media at a downtown hotel, insisting the WNBA isn’t a steppingstone. “There isn’t a future outside of what we’re here to talk about today.”

*Rihanna is taking legal action against her father after he allegedly used her Fenty brand to make a come up of his own.

According to The Blast, the singer has filed a lawsuit against Ronald Fenty and a company called Fenty Entertainment. She claims her father and his business partner, Moses Perkins, created an entertainment company to exploit her name to try and get rich.

Rihanna has already trademarked “Fenty,” which she uses in a number of business ventures, including her Fenty Beauty line. The Bajan beauty makes it clear that she has nothing to do with Fenty Entertainment, and that “Although Mr. Fenty is Rihanna’s father, he does not have, and never has had, authority to act on Rihanna’s behalf.”

She also alleges that her father and Mr. Perkins have been soliciting business acting as her agents and some of their erroneous bookings includes a $15 million tour in Latin America and two concerts at Staples Center in Los Angeles and T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas for $400,000. In both cases, RiRi claims the bookings occurred without her authorization.

The suit states that Rihanna has sent multiple cease and desist letters to Ronald Fenty, but he has ignored them and continues to earn millions from Fenty Entertainment.

She’s asking a judge to place an injunction on her dad using the name Fenty … and, of course, for damages.

Meanwhile, Rihanna recently revealed that her new album will arrive this year. When asked by a fan on Instagram when it will be released, she replied: “2019”.

In related news, former Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt has entered counseling for alcohol and anger management.

According to NFL Media, Hunt is being investigated by the NFL for three separate violent incidents that occurred in the past year. He was released by Kansas City last month after a video emerged of him physically assaulting a white woman at a hotel in Cleveland back in February.

It was later revealed that he also allegedly punched a man while visiting an Ohio resort in June and attacked a man at a nightclub in January.

What happened in that hotel between the former NFLer and Abby Ottinger — a 19-year-old Kent State student — early on the morning of Feb. 10 was unknown by the public until Nov. 30, when TMZ published a portion of the video showing Abby being knocked down in a hallway and kicked by Hunt.

“I’m asking for forgiveness and I definitely believe I deserve forgiveness,” Hunt told ESPN following the release of the hotel clip. “Everything is really happening fast right now and I just want everybody to forgive me. I know it’s going to be hard. I made a bad choice and I’m not going to let this bring me down.”

An ESPN report confirms that Ottinger called Hunt a n*gger and struck him during the altercation.

*Yo gurl, Amber Rose is giving up the deets on her past life. It’s one that includes selling crack cocaine. But, she says she just wasn’t cut out for that kind life  and stepped back.

We know this because she recently made the confession – one she’s NEVER discussed openly before –  after sitting down for a raw convo about overcoming life struggles with TMZ’s Van Lathan on his Red Pill podcast. It was all about doing the selling crack thing to make ends meet when she was a teenager running around South Philly.

It turned out to be a failed effort, and not because she was ever caught. The guys in her neighborhood wouldn’t let her deal. Still, that didn’t throw a damper on Amber from dipping her toe into the drug world.

She also made an interesting point … she knows she’ll be judged harshly by some, but points out the double standard … people like Jay-ZJeezyPusha T and 50 Cent often get glorified for their dealings.

*Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles is opening up for the first time publicly about how she’s coping with having to relive the sexual abuse she suffered at the hands of former USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar.

“I’m on anxiety medicine now because I had a lot of ups and downs throughout the year and trying to figure out what was wrong,” Biles said Tuesday on “Good Morning America.” “I go to therapy pretty regularly.”

“It’s not easy but the people surrounding me are some of the best so it makes it a little easier,” she added.

In January, Nassar was sentenced to up to 175 years in prison for sexually abusing over 150 gymnasts — including Biles, 21.  In January, she wrote about Nassar in a letter on Twitter.

“I too am one of the many survivors that was sexually abused by Larry Nassar,” said the athlete. “Please believe me when I say it was a lot harder to first speak those words out loud than it is now to put them on paper. There are many reasons that I have been reluctant to share my story, but I know now it is not my fault.”

Continued Biles, “For too long I’ve asked myself, ‘Was I too naive? Was it my fault?’ I now know the answers to those questions. No. No, it was not my fault. No, I will not and should not carry the guilt that belongs to Larry Nassar, USAG, and others.”

The four-time Olympic gold medalist made history recently when she became the first female gymnast to win four World Championships. She also graces the cover of ESPN The Magazine’s blockbuster year-end issue.

THE MOST TRUSTWORTHY PLAYERS IN THE NBA

*Put simply, you could theoretically place NBA players into two camps: loose cannon or solid as a rock. Teams certainly need both, but it’s the latter that we’re more interested in today. There are, of course, loose cannons a-plenty in the National Basketball Association.

We’re talking the likes of Draymond Green (will yell at you in locker rooms), Chris Paul (bark is worse than his bite, but still kind of annoying), Kevin Durant (will take personal offence to every Instagram comment about him selling out) and not forgetting Kawhi Leonard (will simply disappear from your team for a couple of months).

All that said, we’re keen to focus on the everyday heroes and the teammates who just seem like the kind of people who won’t renege on a promise, will turn up to your birthday party on time, and will pay you back that 10 bucks they owe without you even having to ask for it.

LeBron James

He’s The King, after all, so what kind of person can’t trust their ruler? For one, the man brought a championship to Cleveland in 2016 just like he said he would, and somehow didn’t blow a gasket after J.R. Smith’s boneheaded blunder in the Game 1 of the 2018 Finals. Sure, he bolted from the Cavs for the sunny shores of L.A., but who could blame him for not wanting to play with that band of misfits? Plus, the guy will appear in Space Jam 2, built a school in his hometown of Akron for underprivileged kids and even stuck up for Steph Curry’s decision not to visit President Trump at the White House (a yearly tradition with other presidents) after the Warriors won the championship in 2017.

Klay Thompson

Not just rock solid from the 3-point line, Klay is a guy you can set your watch to. While other Warriors players are somewhat polarizing (Draymond Green, Kevin Durant and Steph Curry), Klay is universally loved and someone who just oozes chill. Thompson has no drama or diva tendencies, he’s just a guy who shoots well, plays hard, and then returns home to his beloved dog, Rocco. Furthermore, Klay was just announced as a brand ambassador for Swiss luxury watch company, Tissot, and we can’t imagine a better fit for them (he joins ex-Spurs legend Tony Parker and Hawks rookie Trae Young). If we’re talking about comparing Klay to a list of Swiss watches then he’s not as fancy as a Rolex or complex as a Patek Philippe, but simply a Tissot which looks good and gets the job done when he’s called upon.

Steven Adams

Other than the fact that he’s built like a house of bricks, Adams is just that guy you absolutely want on your side in any fight. Resemblances to Game of Thrones’ Khal Drogo notwithstanding, Adams is a tough guy, a fierce competitor and a great ball player, but is well-known around the league for being an all-round good dude and a positive ball of energy. The fact that he hails from an awesome country like New Zealand only seals the deal as a trustworthy guy, but we’re still not sure why he already released an autobiography (My Life, My Fight) this year after only 5 seasons in the NBA…

Ricky Rubio

Any type of “pass first/shoot second” player will always feature high on any list of trustworthy players, which is just as well, because Rubio is definitely not known for his shooting skills. Still, Ricky is unbelievably nice, never picks a fight, and has one of the best man-bun and beard combos that the NBA has ever seen. Find us someone who could possibly dislike Rubio and we’ll send Steven Adams to sort things out.

*On Tuesday, Jan. 15, the hosts of The Real teach viewers a few ways to tell when an online article may or may not be true, and address a recent “fake news” story about themselves. Co-host Loni Love gives The Real Royal Report, and is it ok for friends to discuss explicit details of personal relationships with each other?

Then The Real reaches out to an IRS employee in Memphis, TN – a single mom who has been affected by the recent government shutdown – and lends her a helping hand. The show will be reaching out to people in similar situations during the rest of the week.

Later, Temptation Island host Mark L. Walberg joins the ladies to talk about the return of the reality show, and also shares his surprising love of farming!

The Hosts Of The Real Put Those Rumors Down

The Hosts Of The Real Put Those Rumors Down

Jeannie Mai: But one that actually hurt me is one that I read about us – that we were feuding, and that we were walking off set because of our salaries. And let me tell you – what I love about our unit is that the second we heard that, we immediately got on the chain and called each other [to Tamera Mowry-Housley] I left you voicemails, and our video messages – because it was so important for us to make eye contact and be like, “You good? Are you ok? This is cool, right?”

Adrienne Houghton: [to Tamera] I’m like, wait, I was in your room yesterday doing some things that are very friendly! [to the audience] No! Oh no! Not like that!

[The Real audience laughs and applauds]

Adrienne: No no no! No no no! Not like that! No! [To Tamera] Remember? Spanx?

Tamera: Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Yes.

Jeannie: Smile! Smile! We’re live! Smile!

Adrienne: Guys! Not that friendly!

Loni Love: You just gave OK Magazine another headline!

Tamera: I know!

Adrienne: Come on!

Tamera: Not that line! Not that!

Adrienne: “Adrienne and Tamera Do Friendly Things In The Dressing Room!”

Tamera: We were sharing some things…

Adrienne: Yeah, and you’re just like – then the next day stuff like that comes out and you’re like, “Wait a minute,” you’re like…

Tamera: “What the hell?”

Adrienne: The crazy part is you almost have to ask yourself, “Who would believe this?” but sadly, people do.

Tamera: Who would write that?

Adrienne: Who would write that, who would believe that…

Tamera: Who would believe that?

Loni: The one thing is, is that we all have an ability to do interviews. If you’ve ever seen an interview from me, I tell the truth. I tell what’s on my mind, sometimes I tell the truth too much, OK?

Tamera: Me too.

Loni: The same thing with these other ladies, so if you’re hearing it from a source about this show, it’s not – no.

Jeannie: Yes.

Loni: “Cause if it’s coming from me or one of these ladies, it’ll be coming from us!

Jeannie: That’s right!

[The Real audience applauds]

Tamera: I’m not afraid to speak the truth!

Loni: And we will tell you right here on this show if there’s a issue; we will tell you on this show.

Jeannie: And I want to give a special message to Real Fam out there, I know you’re sitting on your couch and you’re watching this. Every single person who knows the show and knows us, especially all of you who make your way, coming here season after season – you know what’s real and I see you when you clap back at other people for making up nonsense and you stand up for us. Thank you for being that person.

[The Real audience applauds]

Jeannie: And thank you for flagging us when we’ll need to see something to come correct with it. You guys are bomb for that. That’s Real Fam.

*R. Kelly’s ex-wife, Andrea ‘Drea’ Kelly, made an appearance on “The Bert Show” Tuesday morning where she spilled even more tea about her relationship with the controversial singer.

As reported by the ajc.com, the former dancer claims Kellz has not paid child support in months because he’s pissed she spoke out publicly about the physical and emotional abuse she allegedly suffered during their marriage.

Andrea and Kelly were married for nearly 10 years and they have three children together — Joann, Jay and Robert Jr.

“He stopped paying child support in June,” she explained on the Atlanta-based syndicated radio show. “It’s another form of abuse. He’s still abusing me financially.”

Drea revealed that she and the kids have not been in contact with R. Kelly, nor do they know his phone number. She also shared that the children call him “Robert Sr.”

“They don’t call him dad,” she said.

Meanwhile, sources tell TMZ that R. Kelly believes Andrea has brainwashed all three of their children into detesting him. Still, the R&B hitmaker is said to miss his children and wants to reconcile with them.

According to RollingOut, R. Kelly produced a song with Joann Kelly about four years ago. But when his ex found out about it, she went ballistic and Kelly believes Drea caused a rift between him and his daughter.

Andrea says she still has not viewed Lifetime’s “Surviving R. Kelly” docuseries, in which she is featured along with nearly a dozen women who share their history of sexual abuse with the artist.

She said the six-part docuseries is “too difficult to watch right now.”

*Unless you’re a serious fan, you probably hadn’t even given it a second thought, but on this date in 1959, Helen Folasade Adu was born in the Federal Republic of Nigeria in West Africa.

“Who?,” some are asking right now. Why, Helen Folasade Adu is none other than uber recording artist, Sade.

Yep, more commonly known as Sade, the soulful, sultry singer rose to fame in 1984 with her best-selling debut, Diamond Life, which was fueled by the hit singles “Smooth Operator” and “Your Love is King” and “Hang On To Your Love.”

Since then, Sade, who releases albums very sporadically, has put out five more albums which have all been fantastic sellers. The lovely, stylish vocalist turns 60 years old today.

GREGG LEAKES APOLOGIZES TO NENE WITH EMOTIONAL POST AMID CANCER BATTLE

Here’s more you might not know about Sade:

After her mother returned to England, Adu grew up on the North End of London. Developing a good singing voice in her teens, Adu worked part-time jobs in and outside of the music business. She listened to Ray Charles, Nina Simone, Al Green, Aretha Franklin, and Billie Holiday, and studied fashion design at St. Martin’s School of Art in London while also doing some modeling on the side.

Around 1980, she started singing harmony with a Latin funk group called Arriva. One of the more popular numbers that the group performed was an Adu original co-written with bandmember Ray St. John, “Smooth Operator.”

The following year, she joined the eight-piece funk band Pride as a background singer. Pride’s opening acts often featured members of the band in different combinations. Pride and their off-shoots performed often around London and stirred up record company interest. Initially, the labels wanted to sign only Sade — technically a trio featuring Adu, Stuart Matthewman, and Paul Denman — while the whole of Pride wanted a deal.

The members of Pride not involved in the Sade trio eventually told Adu, Matthewman, and Denman to go ahead and sign a deal. Adding keyboardist Andrew Hale, Sade signed to the U.K. division of Epic Records.

*A new #MeToo movement-inspired Gillette ad has sparked outrage among some of their consumers due to its rejection of toxic masculinity.

Gillette’s “The Best a Man Can Be” ad debuted Monday, and by Tuesday it was a viral sensation. As noted by SandraRose, the company “challenges the oft used phrase “boys will be boys” that excuses rowdy behavior or rough play that are instinctive to the male species.”

Proctor & Gamble urges men to check their behavior by asking “Is this the best a man can get? Is it?”

In the ad, the narrator says: “We can’t hide from [toxic masculinity]. It has been going on far too long. We can’t laugh it off, making the same old excuses.”

Men (mostly white) are calling for a boycott of Gillette over what they see as an attack on their manhood and their race.

OTHER NEWS YOU MIGHT HAVE MISSED: Amber Rose Tells of Selling Crack and Failing – WATCH/Listen

Per SandraRose:

In the commercial, 43 men and boys are shown exhibiting “undesirable” masculine behavior with women and girls. Among the 43 males, 42 are white and only 1 is Black.

7 males are seen exhibiting “desirable” behavior, such as breaking up fights and interrupting men who lust after women. Of the 7 desirables, four are Black males and only 2 are white.

While many are praising the commercial for its “brilliant” message, others complained that the ad is part of the “pussification of America,” and that the company is “hell bent on destroying males.” Piers Morgan tweeted that Gillette is “eager to fuel the current global assault on masculinity.”

The negative tweets and comments in response to the Gillette ad highlight the problem the ad address in the first place; society excusing poor behavior, objectification, and assault of women and children.

One Twitter user wrote: “If you have a problem with this #Gillette ad, it was definitely made for you”

The company posted the ad on Twitter along with the caption: “Boys will be boys”? Isn’t it time we stopped excusing bad behavior? Re-think and take action by joining us at .

*ESPN The Magazine has revealed its list of the 20 most dominant athletes of 2018, which includes LeBron Jamesand gymnast Simone Biles, who bagged the #1 spot as the most dominant athlete of the year.

The Olympic gold medalist recently became the first female gymnast to win four World Championships. She spoke out on “GMA” after it was announced that she would grace the cover of ESPN The Magazine’s blockbuster year-end issue.

“I didn’t think it was real,” Biles said of the honor. “I was like, ‘You’re joking.’”

OTHER NEWS YOU MIGHT HAVE MISSED: Simone Biles Takes Anxiety Medication to Cope with Larry Nassar Abuse [WATCH]

ESPN’s Charlotte Gibson noted: “Biles unleashed a historic display of athleticism at the world championships, winning her record fourth all-around title by her largest margin yet, leading the U.S. team to gold, again by a record margin, and taking four other medals. That made her the first U.S. gymnast to medal at every event at a world championship — and doing all that with a kidney stone, after spending the night before qualifying in the hospital. Not that you needed more, but she also ran the table at this year’s U.S. Classic, after taking a two-year hiatus from her four-golds-and-a-bronze triumph in Rio. She is truly unstoppable.”

According to the press release, here’s how the rankings were determined:

“ESPN The Magazine’s “Dominant 20″ list was created by pitting the year’s best against their top rivals with cold, hard math. The process started by grading the athletes by the strongest performance measures available in their sport over their most recently completed season (except F1 numbers, which are through November 11, and NFL numbers, which are through November 26), including timed scores, earnings and, wherever possible, advanced metrics. Then, to put those achievements into historical perspective, top athletes in a sport were compared to the best in their field each year since 1998, and results were adjusted to put those athletes onto one common baseline, yielding our ratings.”

The Olympic gold medalist recently revealed for the first time publicly that she’s been taking anxiety medicine since revealing she was sexually abused by disgraced sports doctor Larry Nassar.

*NASA has reportedly offered to give NBA superstar Steph Curry a tour of one of its lunar labs after the Golden State Warrior said the moon landing never occurred.

Curry made the comment on an episode of the “Winging It” podcast, which posted Monday. According to Bleacher Report, he brought up the subject with fellow NBA players Vince Carter, Kent Bazemore and Andre Iguodala:

Curry: “We ever been to the moon?”

The other players: “Nope.”

Curry: “They’re gonna come get us. I don’t think so, either.”

Legend has it that Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were the first astronauts to walk on the moon on July 20, 1969.

OTHER NEWS YOU MIGHT HAVE MISSED: Rev. Run and Wife Honored at the 36th Annual Caucus Awards Dinner – EUR Exclusive!

Co-host Annie Finberg tried to give Curry a chance to clarify his statement. “You don’t think so?” she asked.

“Nuh uh,” he responded.

“You gotta do the research on Stanley Kubrick,” says Bazemore, referring to the acclaimed film director who was supposedly hired by NASA to fake the moon landing on an elaborate soundstage in L.A.

NASA, meanwhile, invited Curry to come and see evidence that the moon landing was not a hoax.

“We’d love for Mr. Curry to tour the lunar lab at our Johnson Space Center in Houston, perhaps the next time the Warriors are in town to play the Rockets,” NASA spokesperson Allard Beutel told the New York Times. “We have hundreds of pounds of moon rocks stored there, and the Apollo mission control. During his visit, he can see firsthand what we did 50 years ago, as well as what we’re doing now to go back to the moon in the coming years, but this time to stay.”

In an email to Mashable, Beutel added that there is “lots of evidence NASA landed 12 American astronauts on the Moon from 1969 – 1972.”

No word on if Curry will accept the invitation but he tweeted an amusing response to the invitation.

This isn’t the first time that an NBA player went wild with a conspiracy theory. Last year, Boston Celtic Kyrie co-signed with the Flat Earth Society but later doubled down in an interview with The New York Times.

“I do research on both sides. I’m not against anyone that thinks the Earth is round,” he said back in June. “I’m not against anyone that thinks it’s flat. I just love hearing the debate. It’s fun to talk about.”

Irving later apologized for claiming the Earth is flat because science teachers said kids were starting to believe him.

Meanwhile… NASA chief Jim Bridenstine clapped back at Curry…saying: We Went To Moon 6 Times!!!

In a press release announcing the project back in December 2017, Peele stated, “Too many times this year it’s felt we were living in a twilight zone, and I can’t think of a better moment to reintroduce it to modern audiences.”

The original “The Twilight Zone” was created and presented by Rod Serling, and premiered on CBS on Oct. 2, 1959. The series ran for five seasons from 1959 to 1964. Each stand alone episode explored all things creepy, weird, strange and unusual. All 156 episodes of the original series are available now for streaming on CBS All Access.

“Rod Serling was an uncompromising visionary who not only shed light on social issues of his time, but prophesied issues of ours. “I’m honored to carry on his legacy to a new generation of audiences as the gatekeeper of ‘The Twilight Zone,” Peele previously expressed in a statement.

*Former NBA star Matt Barnes and his girlfriend, Anansa Sims, shared adorable photos online of their newborn baby son, Ashton Joseph Barnes.

Barnes, 38, announced his son’s birth on Instagram Saturday, writing: “Just in time for the Holidays … Ashton Joseph Barnes aka “AJ” 8lbs 13oz 22.5 inches @anansasims #ThreeKings”.

Matt is already father to 10-year-old twin sons, Carter and Isaiah, by reality TV star Gloria Govan. He recentlyreceived a reduction in child support after the judge overseeing the custody case between the ex-couple ruled in his favor.

Barnes was paying Govan $20K a month in child support but argued that he couldn’t afford the hefty payments after retiring. The reduced monthly payments follow his legal win of primary custody of the boys.

On Tuesday, Barnes and Sims shared photos online of them bonding “skin-to-skin” with Ashton.

The proud mother captioned the images: “I couldn’t have done it without you my Love .. You talked me through every push… held my hand… and said exactly what I needed to hear to get our little man here .. #foreverlove #blessed”.

As noted by Sandra Rose, Anansa, 39, was criticized by social media users for wasting little time getting pregnant by Barnes after ending her marriage to the father of her 3 children, ages 5-7, in 2017.

*Spike Lee has opened up on how he came to team with rock band The Killers, directing the video for their “Land of the Free” single, which he described as “a great protest song.”

Lee says lead singer Brandon Flowers called him up personally to ask if he would collaborate with the band.

“He saw BlacKkKlansman, said he loved it,” Lee told The Hollywood Reporter. He said, ‘What can you do with this?’

The Las Vegas band released the single on Monday and it serves as a response to Donald Trump’s presidency as well as racism and gun violence in America.

As reported by NME, the video was shot by Lee on location as he travelled along the border between the USA and Mexico late last year to capture footage of migrants and the location of Trump’s proposed border wall.

You can watch the video for “Land of the Free” below.

Meanwhile, Spike discussed the timeliness of “BlacKkKlansman” and the government shutdown with THR during a lunch reception for the Producers Guild Awards. The film is up for the top prize at Saturday’s ceremony, but the filmmaker says “The goal is not to be nominated. The goal is to make films of impact, and this film definitely has,” Lee told The Hollywood Reporter.

“I’m not trying to be some grandiose motherf*cker like, ‘Oh, I don’t need awards.’ I’m not saying that. But what I’m saying is that, there are things more important.”

“BlacKkKlansman” centers on the real-life black detective Ron Stallworth, who infiltrated the Ku Klux Klan in the 1970s. Spike believes the timeliness of the film is what made it a hit with critics and audiences.

“I think it really deals with the world we live in today. I keep saying this, but it’s true — ‘The stars were in alignment.’ Everything is timing, really,” he said. “You could do anything — a great song, movie, play, novel — and one little thing in there, it’s not gonna hit. It’s not gonna have impact. It’s timing.”

To illustrate his point, Lee cited The Killers’ new single, “Land of the Free” and pointed out that the song was released during the longest U.S. government shutdown in history.

“Again, it’s about what’s happening. Over 800,000 Americans are on their fourth week of not receiving a check,” Lee said. “People are hurting.”

*Have you ever wondered what it would be like to get slapped by none-other than the legendary Michael Jordan?! Well, Charlotte Hornet’s player Malik Monk found last night (12-12-18).

OK, just so you know we wouldn’t consider it an honor to get bitch-slapped by the man some say is the GOAT as far as the NBA is concerned. And we don’t think Monk would disagree with us, either.

OK, here’s the backstory. As you most likely know, Jordan is the principal owner of the  Hornets;. Well, he, along with everybody watching the Hornets play the Detroit Pistons, observed Monk getting a really stupid technical foul that could have cost the team the game.

Obviously Jordan was so into the moment (translation: pissed off), that he reached back (like a dad upset with his kid) and thwacked the 20-year-old in the back of the head … in front of the world (because the game was televised).

LAURENCE FISHBURNE AT CENTER OF MESSY AFFAIR WITH MINISTER’S WIFE

Oh yeah, just so you know WHY Jordan was pissed, the Hornets were tied with the Pistons in the final seconds of Wednesday night’s contest … when Charlotte’s Jeremy Lamb knocked down a deep 2-pointer to go up 108-106. The Hornets bench went wild … and Monk ran on the court to celebrate.

JANET JACKSON JOINS THE 2019 CLASS OF ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES

Only problem was … THE GAME WASN’T OVER YET.

Anyway, the referees went to replay and the Pistons were awarded a 1-shot technical.

And that’s when a super-perturbed (pissed off) Jordan let his left hand fly to back of Monk’s head. The Hornets ended up holding on for the win … so no harm, no foul as they say. However, we can only imagine what would’ve happened to young Mr. Monk.

Michael Jordan now says the slap was not malicious — but rather, a “tap of endearment.”

“It was like a big brother and little brother tap,” Jordan told the Associated Press … “No negative intent. Only love!”

Hopefully, Malik Monk will use the incident as a teachable moment and LEARN from it.

*The following Blind Item comes from Hollywood insider Enty Lawyer. Please address all inquiries and complaints to the original source.

This actor is A- list. He is on an initialed show and been on awhile. He never seemingly makes tabloid news at all, so when this popped up at first, I blew it off. Then, a couple of months later another person said something about him that was super similar. So, I started asking around. Apparently our actor hangs out at missions or shelters which help single moms. Our actor then scouts around until he finds one he thinks is attractive. He will usually take her to dinner and then if they click will do something with her and her children. He then moves them into an apartment to help them get their life back on track.

Sounds like this should be a kindness right?

Well, of course the woman is grateful for what he has done and he makes it clear that they will continue to only get help if the sleep with him. So, they do. They fulfill his twisted fantasies too. Usually after a month or two he gets bored and has an employee kick them out of the apartment and give them $1000. After a couple of weeks he starts the whole process again.

*Oscar-winning actor Don Cheadle had to remind comedian Kathy Griffin that they were “never friends” after she lashed out at him on Twitter for not supporting her during her 2017 “smear campaign”.

Griffin slammed Cheadle early Tuesday morning for not taking her side when she held up Donald Trump’s bloody, severed head in a since-deleted video.

While many celebrities supported Griffin after she posted the clip online, Don was among the few stars who took to Twitter to note that the footage was probably not a good idea.

Griffin was triggered to attack Cheadle after he posted a photo of himself wearing a hat supporting an anti-bigotry and sexism group.

“Oh GREAT Don. I will never forgive you for your nasty tweet the day my smear campaign started,” she tweeted. “You know it was a f**king smear campaign and you have never taken a moment to apologize. Some liberal you are. Yes, my memory is long my ex friend. Shame on you. I kept a list. Fear me.”

Cheadle, 54, replied, “Huh?” prompting Kathy to add: “Huh? You’re a d**k in real life, but believe it or not I truly hope what I went through never happens to you. Never. And if it did I would be the first in line to stand up for you, get my a** on television and do everything I could to defend you & the 1st amendment. It’s easy don.”

Cheadle replied:

“sigh… ok, kathy. 1) we had one conversation on a flight about our mutual disgust for individual (Trump) 1. i don’t ‘friend’ that quickly so we can’t really be ‘exes’. 2) had i been your ‘friend’ and you had asked my opinion, i would have said, “kathy. for you own sake, please do NOT depict yourself holding the bloody, severed head of the president, evoking daesh (terrorist group ISIS), (beheaded journalist) daniel pearl and every other painful, disturbing memory associated with it, your first amendment rights notwithstanding.” and had you said, ‘fkkk you, i’m doing it anyway,’ i would’ve said, ‘wellgirl, be prepared to have the dogs sicced on you. the secret service doesn’t play around with s**t like that no matter WHO the president is.”

He continued: “you’re also risking your career for what i see as zero upside… maybe you would have listened. doubt it.”

Cheadle called Griffin’s online post “a cringe worthy photo-op”, and added: “i’m sorry that you’re still dealing with the aftershocks of your actions. it’s egregious.”

He also suggested she reach out to him privately, stating: “you wanna rap offline, you know how that works.”

*Serena Williams made her return to the court earlier this year rocking a fierce Black Panther-inspired catsuit, which she said made her feel like a “warrior princess.”

“I call it, like, my Wakanda-inspired catsuit,” she revealed. “We designed it way before the movie, but still, it kind of reminds me of that. I’m always living in a fantasy world, I always wanted to be a superhero and it’s kind of my way of being a superhero.”

She also explained at the time that she had a history of blood clots and the suit was specifically designed to help prevent the clots from forming while on the court.

Williams, 37, wore the compression catsuit at the 2018 French Open, prompting French Tennis Federation president Bernard Giudicelli to ban the one-piece.

During an interview with Tennis Magazine, Giudicelli stated: “We are going to ask the manufacturers to let us know what is coming. I believe we have sometimes gone too far. Serena’s outfit this year, for example, would no longer be accepted. You have to respect the game and the place.”

The ban sparked outrage on social media and support from folks like ex-pro tennis player Anne White (see clip below) and ex-Iran president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Now, the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) has clarified the rules for female players’ clothing, including compression pieces like Serena’s catsuit.

“Leggings and mid-thigh-length compression shorts may be worn with or without a skirt, shorts, or dress,” the organization wrote, as reported by the BBC.

But as noted by TMZ, Serena still faces problems with the catsuit, as the rule changes only apply to WTA Tournaments … NOT Grand Slams.
